Country “Backroads”
March 14, 2020 6:44 amAt the age of nineteen, Charlie knew he wanted to be a musician. He spent fifteen years travelling the world, putting together Country Music bands, writing songs and honing his craft.
His debut LP in 1993 produced six singles, and all of them became number one songs on the RPM Country Chart. In 1994, he won the Juno for Country Male Vocalist of the Year, and then won it again the following year.
A major record label moved Charlie and his family to Nashville, and they wanted to change Charlie’s image and his sound. Charlie remained true to his roots, and kept his style and image.
Charlie’s song, “Backroads” became a top five hit for Ricky Van Shelton.
