Luke Combs Discusses His OCD

Luke Combs recently revealed during an appearance on “60 Minutes Australia” that he suffers from an “all-consuming” form of OCD.

He had a bad flare-up before his tour stop in Australia at the beginning of February.

Luke’s had OCD since he was 12 or 13 years old. He’s 35 now.

“There’s some tinge of it, to some extent, every day. It’s thoughts, essentially, that you don’t want to have that you’re having. They cause stress. And then the stress causes you to have more of the thoughts, and then you don’t understand why you’re having them. You’re trying to get rid of [the thoughts] but trying to get rid of them makes you have MORE of them.”

He says it’s tedious to pull yourself out of the cycle, and calls it, quote, “particularly wicked.”

He says the anxiety stems from questions that DON’T have an answer, and the thoughts can be intrusively violent or about religion.

Luke wants to do outreach to kids who have OCD because it held him back so many times in his life.

“I want to be an example for those kids that don’t have any hope, that you can still go on and do great things, even though you’re dealing with something that is really tough.”
