How Brett Young’s Wife Inspires Him

Brett Young has been married to his wife Taylor for six years now, and they have two beautiful little girls, Presley and Rowan.

It would be easy for Brett to write nothing but happy songs that reflect where he’s at in his life, but he realizes he needs to write a wider variety of songs to give all of his fans something they can relate to.

But Brett says the heartbreak songs he writes today are also inspired by his wife.

“I’ve always tried to be authentic or honest every time I write a song about exactly what I’m going through in my life. And then I realized I can’t alienate people that are still heartbroken. I still gotta write that song. And just because I’m not going through it, I gotta draw from past heartbreak and remember what it felt like. And for me, the hardest thing I ever went through was when my wife and I broke up for two years when I first moved to Nashville, because there was a big part of me that always knew we weren’t supposed to be broken up. I was supposed to be with her. And so, I actually draw from heartbreak with my wife years ago, in order to write songs.”

Brett Young will be playing the Colosseum at Caesars Windsor on Thursday, June 19th.
