Holm, Jean (Age 85, Hanover)

Jean HOLM, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at Hanover and District Hospital on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in her 86th year. Born on August 4, 1933, in Neustadt, Ontario to the late Henry and Nellie (nee Miles) Gerber. Jean will be remembered for her hard work while farming alongside her husband, Len. She was a devoted woman of her faith and participated in many functions at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Normanby, including her work with the ELW. After 18 years of farming, she and Len sold the farm and moved to Hanover, where she kept her time occupied with various jobs over many years, including working at Hanover Kitchens for 14 years and the Hanover Raceway Restaurant at the Hanover Slots for 10 years, later retiring in 2006. Meeting up with friends on Tuesday’s for Crokinole was a highlight, as well as participating in Swing Bowling in Neustadt. She will be remembered for her kind heart and big smile and will be missed by many community members both in Neustadt and Hanover.
Survived by daughters Linda (Jerry) Alcock, and Susan Etsell both of Hanover, and son in law Mark Etsell of Rockwood. Loved Nana of Shawn (Anna) and their son Blace, Jennifer (Brian) and their children Kentaya, Regan, Grayson, Brielle, Koby and Dakota, and Michael (Kelly) and their children Austin and Emma. Fondly remembered by her sister Elaine Gebhardt of Hanover and sister in law Vera Winfield of Elmira. Jean will be remembered by her nieces, nephews and their families as well as her many dear friends. Predeceased by her beloved husband Leonard Holm (2010), brother Wayne Gerber and sister Marilyn Horst.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Visitation held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (379 Adam Street, Neustadt) on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 12 noon until time of Memorial Service at 1:00 pm. Inurnment of ashes to follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Normanby.
Memorial donations to the Hanover & District Hospital Foundation or to the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce – South West Region would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
