Finch, Al (Age 78,Clinton)
September 4, 2019 10:46 amAl FINCH of Clinton, in his 79th year. Dearly beloved husband of Carol for 56 years. He will be deeply missed by his children, Deanna and Steve, Greg and Leonie, Cam and Shivon and Brenda and Bill. Adored by his grandchildren, Dylan, Keaton, Kalee, Spencer, Nicholas, Katelyn, Meghan and Abby. Survived and missed by brother Richard and Bonnie, sisters Veronica Farquhar and Kenny and Susan Finch. Fondly remembered by many special nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father, Ray “Babe” Finch and his mother, Cleta (nee Medd) Finch.
Al loved his wife deeply, his kids fiercely and adored his grandchildren. After that, his loves were friends and fellowship, volunteering, golf, his convertible and puttering in his shop.
Many will remember Al as the “Breadman”. He spent close to 40 years with Dempsters/Canada Bread prior to his retirement in 2004. His orange truck was a delightful weekly sight for so many families.
Prior to his illness in 2012, Al was an active member and pillar of the Clinton Community. He was a progressive member of the Kinsmen/K-40 club of Clinton for decades. During his time with this wonderful organization, he was an integral part of the harness racing start-up where proceeds supported community improvements. Al serviced his community as a volunteer firefighter for over 40 years. He had many fond memories and close bonds with his firefighter family. We know you will have a special angel watching over you on future calls. Al and Carol were active members of the United Church of Clinton. He was also a member of the Clinton Legion, where we believe he will be continuing his savvy euchre skills “upstairs”. He loved a good game of Euchre. After his retirement in 2004, Al took up a new career at the Woodlands Golf Course, working approximately 18 holes a day.
We thought it appropriate that we celebrate this amazing man and honour his memory by gathering at a place special to him, therefore friends are asked to join us for a Celebration of Life at Woodlands Golf Course, 37858 Huron Road, Clinton, on Friday, September 6th from 5:30 to 8 PM. He would want us to gather together, have a drink and share some memories and laughs. Please come dressed comfortably. Arrangements entrusted to Falconer Funeral Homes – Clinton Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Huron Perth Hospice. We cannot begin to express our thanks and gratitude to the staff and volunteers for their care and compassion showed during his time there.
