William COULTES of Belgrave, on Saturday, at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Muriel (née Davis) Coultes for 61 years. Loving father of Janice and Mark Matheson, Joanne and Steven Robinson, Karen and Paul Cook, Andrea and Scott Stevenson, and Alison and Brian Wightman. Cherished grandpa of Lisa and Joe Neves, Laura Matheson, Jonathon and Cheryl Matheson, Jeremy Robinson, Nicole Robinson and  Blazej Pellowski, Stephanie Robinson and Jordan Gilkinson, Amy and Rob Johnston, Levi Cook and Jackie Sanders, Sean and Anna Cook, Ellen Cook, Sarah Cook, Rachel Cook and Brandon McGavin, Mathew and Chantel Stevenson, Tyler Stevenson, Spencer Stevenson, Autumn Wightman, Sydney Wightman and friend Trent Bellmore, Mackenzie Wightman and Olivia Wightman. Great-grandpa of Kaden, Emmett and Tyson Neves, Brynlee and Brooklyn Matheson, Rylan Cockwell, Rory Johnston, Raelynn Cook, Paige and Tayt Sanders and Bodhi Stevenson. Brother-in-law of Shirley Davis, Jim and Donalda Davis, Elizabeth Stobo and Ray Pennington, Audrey and Alan Babansee and Dorothy Coultes. Bill will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Ellen Coultes, brother Glenn Coultes and brothers-in-law Bill Davis and Donald Stobo.
Bill farmed in partnership with his brother Glenn on the Third of Morris where he was born. He managed their Maple Ridge Beef Farms feedlot and was a self-taught gifted mechanic on his treasured John Deere tractors and equipment. An Elder and Sunday School teacher at Knox United Church. Long-time choir member as well. A founding member of the Belgrave Men’s Choir. A Belgrave girls baseball coach, softball player, Stone School, and was the president of the Belgrave School Fair. A gifted singer with clever wit and quick jokes who used his talents to entertain and uplift his family, his many friends and anyone around him. He felt blessed with his five chosen sons and grandchildren they gave him.
Visitation will be held at McBurney Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 2 until 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral service will be held at Wingham United Church on Wednesday at 11 AM. Interment will take place in the spring at Brandon Cemetery, Belgrave.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Belgrave Community Centre, Knox United Church, Belgrave or Alzheimer’s Society of Huron County would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham.
