Predeceased by her husband, Lawrence. Loving mother to Sherry Foran, Wanda and Brian Holling, and Larry and Linda Plaetzer. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Allison, Elise and Brock, Kaleigh and Joel, Ryan, Lisa and Josh, Brooke, Jeff, James and Kayla, and Janette and Jeremy, as well as great-grandchildren, Liam and Kai.
Jean was born at home on the family farm in Ashfield township where she and her parents, Orville and Ida Free, raised registered Hereford cattle. She attended Goderich District High School, then worked at Dawson’s General Store, in Dungannon until in 1954 when she married Lawrence. Together they ran a successful farming business near Auburn. They moved to Blyth in 1992.
She was President of the Auburn United Church Women¬ as well as an active member of the Auburn and Blyth Horticultural Societies. Square dancing, curling, lawn bowling, bus tours, and the seniors’ group became the social pastimes for Jean and Lawrence over the years.
Friends will be received at Knox United Church, Auburn, on Friday January 3, 2020 from 10 AM until 12 Noon. The funeral service will be held at the church at 2 PM. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations to Knox United Church, Auburn, gratefully acknowledged and may be arranged through McCallum & Palla Funeral Home, Goderich.
Reunited once again, they will continue to shine and bless us with fond memories. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
