Dear father of Pat Louwagie and Kim, Rosemary Rudy and Randy, and Ann Marinelli and John. Loving grandfather of Brad and Robin, Andy and Katie, Kristen, Janis; Eric, Ian, Jack, Leah, Sam, Adam; Jill and Luke. Cherished great-grandfather of Alivia, Laura, Makayla and Eva. Dear brother of Hector Louwagie and Cecile, Joe Louwagie, Leon Louwagie and Beatrice, Gabrielle Capoen and Rita Capoen. Dear brother-in-law of Leona Vandewalle and Gerry, and Monique Louwagie. He will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Michel and Madeline Louwagie, brother Paul, sisters Maria, Ida, Simonne, Godelieve, Germaine and Jeanne, sister-in-law Alice, brothers-in-law Willy, Andre, Eddy, Fernand, Camiel, Marcel and Paul, father-in-law and mother-in-law Leon and Marguerite Opsomer.
George and Christiane were married and emigrated from Belgium in 1963, farming and raising their family in the Rostock area. Their children and grandchildren brought great joy to his life. He was active in his church, a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed a good game of cards.
Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 2 until 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Kinkora on Friday at 11 AM with Father Ben Raze – Celebrant. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Kinkora. A reception will follow at the Kinkora Community Centre. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Stratford Perth Hospice Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Lockhart Funeral Home, Mitchell.
