SmithIt is with great sadness that after a courageous battle, we announce the passing of Barbara Evelyn Smith of Mitchell, formerly of Monkton, at her home on Thursday, April 30, 2020 in her 77th year.

Barb is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Gary. Also surviving are sons Jerry (Gina) of Milverton, Troy (Sandi) of London, Tony (Lori) of Monkton, and daughter Juanita (Dan Belfour) of Dublin. Special Grandma to Coleton (Courtney), Landon (Shawna), Maddison, Pierson, Tyler, Jaiden, Porter, Grady, Myles, Bree, Maya and Joy. Also survived by brother Elwood Milne of North Battleford, SK, sister Marg and Earl Illman of Stratford, brother Ken and Debbie Smith of Chatham and sister Orma MacKay of London, sisters-in-law Beth and Gary Earl of Ethel, Corrine Smith of Cambridge, Gayle and Ken Dewar of Monkton, Bev and Randy Raycraft of Monkton, brother-in-law Dale and Trish Smith of Monkton and lifelong friend Dawn Yundt of Monkton. Also fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and many cherished friends. Daughter of the late Evelyn and Layton Smith and daughter-in-law of the late Ken and Georgina Smith. Predeceased by brother Jack and Eleanor Milne, Joyce Milne, brothers-in-law Bill MacKay, Warren Smith and Wayne Smith.

Barb especially enjoyed her time with her grandkids, attending numerous outings at many arenas and baseball diamonds. Well known for her love of sewing, cooking, baking and the ability to feed a crowd at a drop of a hat, she never refused the opportunity to help when asked. A huge volunteer in the community, being an Optimist member, helping with the World Men’s Fastball tournament and the United Church suppers in Monkton over the years.

A private family service will be held at the Lockhart Funeral Home, Mitchell. As per Barb’s wishes, donations can be made to the Elma-Logan Recreation Complex payable to the Municipality of North Perth or Childcan London at www.LockhartFuneralHome.com. A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at a later date.
