Terpstra, Stendert “Stan” (Age 79, Mitchell)

Stan Terpstra, 79, of Mitchell passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Saturday, November 7, 2020.

Beloved husband of Beth Terpstra. Dear father of Carol Holubowsky (Nick), Heather Schoonderwoerd (Joe), Susan “Sue” Earl (Jeff), Jo-Anne Horan (Denny) and Karl Terpstra (Laura). Loving grandfather of Dylan (Courtney), Alyson, Brayden; Erika, Danielle, Breann and Carter; Kendra and Nathan; Taya, Jessie and Kinslee; Rhett, Annika and Alayna.

Dear brother of Imkje “Amy” Pribac and Aukje Roe (John). Dear brother-in-law of Bryon French (Mary).  Also surviving are his nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Jan and Tjerkje Terpstra, father-in-law and mother-in-law Russell and Rita French and brother-in-law William Pribac.

Stan emigrated from The Netherlands in 1949. He farmed in Northern Ontario where he met and married Beth in 1967. In 1972, they moved to Logan Township where they carried on farming and raising their family. Upon retirement in 2003, he continued his love for farming by trucking livestock for many area farmers. Also in his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren as well as his family’s trip to Halifax “Pier 21” in the summer of 2019.

Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 1-5 p.m. Memorial donations to the Lung Association or Stratford General Hospital Critical Care Unit would be appreciated and may be made at LockhartFuneralHome.com.
