February 13, 2025 1:39 pmJohn Wassink of Harriston peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus at his home on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in his 66th year.
Beloved husband of EmmyLou Wassink. Father of Lyndsay and Curtis John, Mark and Vanessa Wassink, Jerusha and Dan Scott, and Jared and Meg Wassink. Grandfather of Aaralyn, Calia, Ryker, Kyler, Declan, Maverick, Weston, Landry, Keaton, Calvin, and Arissa. Son of Roelie Wassink and the late Reint Wassink. Brother of Joan and Reg Laferriere of Hepworth, and brother-in-law of Alexandra Wassink of Elora. Predeceased by his brother Ron Wassink.
Son-in-law of Emma Verbeek and the late Cornelius Verbeek, and brother-in-law of Janet and Bill McKay, Dick and Carol Verbeek, Marion Donaldson, Neil and Arlene Verbeek, the late Alice Verbeek, and Yvonne and Ralph Moesker. Loved and remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and tight-knit agricultural community which were like family to him. He loved his job, and chatting with the farmers for over 43 years. He adored spending time with his children and grandchildren, and loved his country life.
The most important decision he made was the day he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. He was so excited for the day he could go home to be with Jesus.
Visitation will be held at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Listowel, on Monday from 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., where the Homegoing service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Harriston Cemetery.
Memorial donations to Christian Aid Ministries or Peoples’ Gospel Hour would be appreciated and may be made through the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston.
The family would like to express deep gratitude for all of the home care from the nurses and doctors, the visits, food, gifts, phone calls, texts, any other help that was provided, and the fervent prayers during this difficult time. It is much appreciated.
