To our listeners, sponsors, and the hockey communities of Midwestern Ontario,

Thank you for the journey.

After many seasons, I’ve made the decision to step away from junior hockey broadcasts on CKNX. It’s a good time to reflect and to say thank you for the opportunity to be part of local hockey across this region.

We will wrap up with the remainder of the regular season and this year’s playoffs.

I have been fortunate to witness and share many great hockey moments, including:

• Listowel Cyclones – Cherry Cup champions – 2005
• Listowel Cyclones – Sutherland Cup champions – 2017–18 and 2023–24
• First road trip with the Kincardine Bulldogs to Penetanguishene
• A decade of Walkerton Hawks dominance
• A Wingham Ironmen run to Essex and a record-breaking season by Aaron Armstrong
• A Mount Forest Patriots resurgence
• The Mitchell Hawks winning their first Jr. C division championship
• A new opportunity for Fergus with the Whalers
• The Hanover Barons bringing the Schmalz Cup back home

Beyond the wins and losses, it’s been about bringing local hockey into homes and businesses, sharing team and player accomplishments, recognizing the history of the game, and reflecting the pride communities have in their teams.

Thank-you to the players, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, and listeners who supported the broadcasts and made them worth doing. Junior hockey is built on people, and this region does it as well as anywhere.

Thank-you to the many people behind the scenes at CKNX, past and present, who have made these broadcasts fun, informative, and professional.

To Scott Pettigrew, who started this initiative, and gave a young man an opportunity.

To the late Bill Brown and Tanya Merner, who provided the sales expertise to allow this program to run for as long as it has.

To Christa for making sure the logistics were in place so all of the elements of the broadcast were put into the system properly, especially during last minute playoff decisions.

To Rob Enders, whose technical expertise was paramount in making sure we could broadcast from everywhere.

To Jeff Irwin, for supporting the initiative and providing leadership.
