{"id":68913,"date":"2019-09-27T10:45:16","date_gmt":"2019-09-27T14:45:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cknxam\/?p=68913"},"modified":"2019-09-27T10:45:16","modified_gmt":"2019-09-27T14:45:16","slug":"johnston-fran-age-88-listowel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cknxam\/obituaries\/2019\/09\/johnston-fran-age-88-listowel\/","title":{"rendered":"Johnston, Fran (Age 88, Listowel)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-68914\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/bri-web-app-wordpress\/2019\/09\/bc6ec338-johnston-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>Fran JOHNSTON,<\/strong>\u00a0of Listowel, on Thursday, in her 89th year.\u00a0Wife of the late Lloyd Johnston (2017).\u00a0\u00a0 Mother of Sue and Paul Carson of Listowel, Barb and Daryl Smith of Kurtzville, Betty Johnston and Fred Fountain of Stratford, Ev and Mike Grosz of Listowel, Linda and Steve Grosz of Waterloo, and Connie Johnston and Brad Johns of R.R.1, Listowel.\u00a0\u00a0Grandmother of Jonathan Carson and Robin, Rebecca Carson and Ryan, Sean Carson and Latasha, Sheena Carpenter and Scott, Cody Smith, Robin Johnston and Jenny, Jordan Grosz, Patrick Grosz and Abbie, Devin Grosz and Alana, Mitchell Grosz and Sam, Joshua Morrison and Tessa, Lucas Morrison and Shannon, great-grandmother of Andrew Johnston, Cadha and Beau Carpenter, Katie and Maddison Morrison, and step-grandmother of Jamie and Dylan Johns.\u00a0\u00a0Sister of Ralph and Diana Turney of Listowel, and Lloyd Turney of Listowel.<\/p>\n<p>Predeceased by her infant daughter Patricia, parents Archie and Florence (Ridsdale) Turney, sisters Freeda Cowan, Gladys Wheeler, and Olive Moore, and brothers Garnet (wife Marion), Emerson, and Howard Turney.<\/p>\n<p>Fran&#8217;s zest for life was evident in everything that she did.\u00a0\u00a0She raised her 6 daughters, helped alongside her husband Lloyd with the family farm, and always kept it known that her home was open to anyone that needed a place to stay, food to eat, a job to do, and a caring ear for their troubles.<\/p>\n<p>It was Fran&#8217;s very strength and determination that directed her and Lloyd to grow their small family farm, on the 3rd of Wallace, into a successful dairy operation that provided for their family over many decades.<\/p>\n<p>Fran and Lloyd were always ready to lend a helping hand to any neighbor in need.\u00a0 In turn, many of their neighbors were there in support to them, in their time of need also.\u00a0\u00a0This was the true Wallace Township Way.\u00a0\u00a0Fran was a former member of the True Blue Lodge, and a long standing member of the Wallace Township Goodwill Women&#8217;s Institute.<\/p>\n<p>Her life-long highlight was when she contributed her time to the compiling and creation of the\u00a0125th Wallace Township History Book.\u00a0 A lot of hard work, but that never scared her off. Fran loved to curl, listen to music, mow her many lawns, adore her flower beds, help Lloyd with field work by driving tractors, grow, harvest and delight in her many vegetable gardens.
