\"\"Jim \u201cCurly\u201d Freeman\u00a0<\/b>COULTES<\/b> on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at age 80. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sheryl, children Renee and Douglas and grandchildren Shawn and Sarah. Jim was the eldest of six children. Brother of Doug Coultes, Doris Coultes and brother-in-law of Linda Watkins. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Norman and Mary Coultes, brothers Ken and Grant, sister Ruth Olson, and brother-in-law Neil Olson.\u00a0<\/span>Jim was born and grew up in Wingham, Ontario.\u00a0 He had many good memories of growing up on the family farm.\u00a0He attended Agricultural College in Guelph, Ontario 1959 to 1961. Jim was very active in college life being a member of several clubs and sports teams, which included being on the Associate Judging Team, Animal Husbandry Club, Agronomy Club, Hockey, Football,\u00a0Soccer and Softball teams.\u00a0Jim worked with his Dad on the family farm until 1967 when he left to work with Ontario Corrections as a Farm Manager and prison guard. He moved to Alberta in 1972 and worked at the Grand Prairie Dairy for a short time before starting with Shaw Pipe Ltd in Calgary in 1973.\u00a0 Jim eventually transferred to Edmonton where he became a supervisor.\u00a0 He worked for Shaw Pipe Ltd for 27 years until he retired in 2000. His work at Shaw Pipe Ltd gave him the opportunity to travel to Australia, Surrey, BC and the United States.\u00a0 In retirement, he had his \u201cdream job\u201d at Countryside Golf Course.\u00a0Jim participated in several sports and also coached young people in hockey and softball. From a young age, Jim was particularly interested in softball and became a pitcher.\u00a0 He pitched softball until he was 50 years old being part of teams that won several championships.\u00a0Jim loved family, softball and golf.\u00a0Jim was a man of faith and strong convictions with honesty, steadfastness, integrity, consideration for others, and kindness is at the centre of who he was.
\nA service will be held at Christ\u2019s Church of the Meadows, 3604 76 Avenue Northwest, Edmonton, Alberta on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at 1 PM. Arrangments entrusted to Trinity Funeral Home<\/b><\/a>, Edmonton.\u00a0<\/span>
\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Christ\u2019s Church of the Meadows, Edmonton or a charity of one\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n
