Survived by his daughter Darlene and Lee Hayden of Manitoulin Island and son Dwayne Raynard of Brussels. Beloved grandpa of Adam and Kirstina Hayden of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Adrienne and Ken McNamara of Coppercliff, Alex Raynard and Phil Mowat of London, Josh Raynard of Tiverton, and Emma Raynard of Listowel. Special great grandpa of Alden and Emma McNamara and Everett Hayden. He was a loving and devoted <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">partner <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">for 29 years to Shirley Brown presently of Evansville. Step dad of Kevin Brown, Marlene McCracken<\/span><br \/>\nGrandpa to Sarah and Rob Eckert, Kristina Brown, Kurtis and Jessica Brown. Karolyn and Marco Jardim and Kelsie Brown and Matt Campbell. Great grandpa to\u00a0 Caden, Conner, Eva, Emilia and Elena. Also Buddy Joe to neighbour Ejay Bailey. Survived by sister-in-law Sue Raynard of Fordwich. Nieces Christine, Pauline, Anne and Doug, Joane, Wendy, Alana (nee McFarlane). Nephews Steven and Bonnie and Michael Leith and all of their children and grandchildren. Brother-in-law Bob and Joyce Alexander of Ethel, Dona and Jim Knight of Brussels, John and Lois Alexander of Cardston, Alberta and all of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also survived by many cousins. Predeceased by his wife Beatrice Alexander in 1991, parents Sylvester and Christina Raynard, brothers Don McFarlane, Tom Raynard, Bill Raynard, and sister-in-law Evelyn, sister Barbara Leith and brother-in-law Paul, nephew Jamie Raynard and many cousins.<br \/>\nJoe was a humble, modest man who liked to live life simply and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He worked as a CNR Rail Conductor from 1956-1971, farmed from 1971-1986 then worked a couple of years in construction and finally worked as a rural newspaper delivery for the KW Record from 1988-2003.\u00a0 In 2005 he and Shirley move from Listowel to Manitoulin Island.<br \/>\nIn his younger years he excelled at and played sports. In particular softball, fastball, slow pitch, soccer and especially hockey. A sport for which he was revered as being &#8220;lightening on ice&#8221;. In later years he coached sports and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, walking and dancing with Shirley at their dance group and other functions.<br \/>\nIn accordance with Joe&#8217;s wishes cremation has taken place. Interment in the spring in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Ethel. Celebration of life will be held at 11 AM December 24, 2019 at the Burpee Mills Complex, 5 Bailey Line Road, Evansville. Arrangements entrusted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.islandfuneralhome.ca\/\"><b>Island Funeral Home<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Little Current.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nIn lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mindemoya Hospital Auxillary or charity of your choice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Joseph Glen RAYNAD of Manitoulin Island and formerly of Grey Township and Listowel, peacefully in his 84th year after a courageous battle with cancer.
