{"id":75456,"date":"2020-07-02T10:34:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-02T14:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cknxam\/?p=75456"},"modified":"2020-07-02T10:34:52","modified_gmt":"2020-07-02T14:34:52","slug":"hamilton-donald-age-75-brussels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/briwebapp.net\/cknxam\/obituaries\/2020\/07\/hamilton-donald-age-75-brussels\/","title":{"rendered":"Hamilton, Donald (Age 75, Brussels)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-75457\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.briwebapp.net\/2020\/07\/f715af6b-don1.jpg\" alt=\"Don Hamilton\" \/>\u201cDon never met a stranger, just a friend he didn\u2019t know yet\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Donald Gordon (Smiley) Hamilton of Brussels, Ontario passed away peacefully at his home with his family around him at the age of 75.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don was born February 20, 1945, forever sharing his birthday with his fraternal twin brother, Ron.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don is survived by his loving wife, Myke (Griffith) who he absolutely adored, and was<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">blessed with a large blended family of children and grandchildren.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Father of Lisa &amp; Bill (D\u2019Arcey), Steven &amp; Jackie Hamilton, Kevin Hamilton, Laura Griffith, and Jason &amp; Nienke Griffith.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grampa Don to Jess, Jaime, Nic, Ben, Tyson, Justin, Kaylee, Austin, Devon, Travis, Emily, Justin and Daniel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brother of Ron &amp; Velma Hamilton, Bruce &amp; Anna Hamilton.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brother-in-law of Jack and Deb Bontje, Bill &amp; Donna Bontje, Marty &amp; Debbie Bontje, and Edward Bontje.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Missed by many nieces and nephews in both families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fondly remembered by numerous friends, customers, and fellow drivers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you knew Dad, you knew why his many friends called him \u201cSmiley\u201d, a kind soul with a silly sense of humour \u2013 always trying to get others see the positive side of life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He loved people and hearing their stories, meeting many through his travels. Spending most of his life on the road behind the wheel of a truck, big or small, and seeing the country which brought him so much joy. Sharing a great many of these miles with Myke completed his life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIf you find a job that you love, you\u2019ll never work a day in your life\u201d is a quote well-suited for Dad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He loved all animals, big or small, furry or feathered, well, except for the squirrels who invaded the bird feeders, but even those got relocated to a happier home. And telling Myke, \u201cLeave the spiders alone in the bathroom, they\u2019ll find their way\u201d just shows a small part of the kindness in his big heart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019ll forever remember those big bear hugs, whisker rubs, that giggle and those darn suspenders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dad seemed to have his own dictionary, how do you take a life-lesson speech seriously when he\u2019s putting two goofy words together and mixing it in with a little trucker\u2019s lingo?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dad loved his family and his friends dearly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But most of all, he loved his wife, who will hold him in her heart forever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thank you to all who visited and called, to each and every home nurse and PSW.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To Terry most of all \u2013 the kindness you\u2019ve shown our husband and father will not be forgotten.
