Season 4\u2019s first two episodes serve as a launchpad for the prequel series\u00a0<em>1883<\/em>, premiering Dec. 19.<\/p>\n<p><em>1883<\/em>\u00a0follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. It is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America\u2019s promised land \u2014 Montana.<\/p>\n<p>Billy Bob Thornton, who will guest star in the role of Marshal Jim Courtright, also appears in the teaser.
