Disney\u2019s \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2<\/a>\u201d retained the No. 1 spot on domestic box office charts despite three major new releases, including the video game adaptation \u201cMortal Kombat II<\/a>.\u201d The \u201cDevil Wears Prada\u201d sequel added $43 million from 4,200 North American theaters, declining just 44% from its debut while boosting its North American tally to $144.8 million. Meanwhile, the star-studded comedy has collected $288.4 million internationally for a strong global total of $433 million after just two weekends of release. Those ticket sales are above the entire lifetime haul of 2006\u2019s \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada,\u201d which generated $326 million, not adjusted for inflation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second place went to the Warner Bros. martial-arts inspired sequel \u201cMortal Kombat II,\u201d which launched to $40 million from 3,503 venues. The film powered to $63 million globally,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The late Catherine O\u2019Hara got a special shout-out at the BAFTA TV Awards<\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seth Rogen took to the stage to collect the award for best international series for his hit satire \u201cThe Studio<\/a>\u201d and, following a typically comical acceptance speech, said it would be \u201cremiss\u201d not to mention his beloved co-star in the series, who sadly died in January.<\/a> She was 71.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe meant so much to all of us, I assume she meant the same to you here,\u201d he said, before dedicating the BAFTA award to O\u2019Hara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two law enforcement officers in the Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office, Jason Smith and Jonathan Santana, have filed a lawsuit against Ben Affleck<\/a> and Matt Damon<\/a>\u2018s production company Artists Equity over \u201cThe Rip<\/a>,\u201d the Netflix crime drama directed by Joe Carnahan that launched on the streamer in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As reported by Entertainment Weekly<\/a>: \u201cSmith and Santana allege the characters played by Affleck and Damon in the movie have caused them \u2018substantial harm to their personal and professional reputations\u2019 because the movie and its advertisements \u2018imply misconduct, poor judgment and unethical behavior in connection with a real law enforcement operation.’\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Rip\u201d stars Damon and Affleck as lieutenant Dane Dumars and detective sergeant J.D. Byrne, respectively, two law enforcement officers in the Miami-Dade Police Department who discover corruption in their ranks linked to $20 million of cartel cash. The cast also featured Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle and Kyle Chandler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smith and Santana\u2019s lawsuit claims a real-life case from June 2016 in which they seized more than $21 million was inspiration for the movie, which opens with the text that it was \u201cinspired by true events.\u201d Smith and Santana are not named in the movie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dua Lipa<\/a> has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung<\/a>, alleging that the electronics manufacturer used her likeness to sell TVs without paying her and without permission.According to the complaint<\/a>, filed on Friday, Samsung used Lipa\u2019s image on the cardboard packaging of its TVs beginning last year. When Lipa became aware of it, she demanded that the company stop using her image.
