Tim Curry, who shot to stardom in his signature role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, the corset-wearing \u201csweet transvestite from Transsexual Transylvania\u201d in the 1975 cult classic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show, died Tuesday at his home in L.A.\u2019s Toluca Lake neighborhood. He was 80.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His death was confirmed by longtime manager and friend Marcia Hurwitz, who said the actor passed away peacefully but did not provide a cause of death. Curry, a three-time Tony Award nominee, had been in precarious health since suffering a major stroke in 2012. He had used a wheelchair since the stroke and the brain surgery that followed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to Rocky Horror, Curry portrayed the evil, grinning clown Pennywise in ABC\u2019s 1990 miniseries adaptation of Stephen King\u2019s It, as well as memorable roles in such films as Annie (1982), Clue (1985), Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992), Addams Family Reunion (1998) and Scary Movie 2 (2001), among many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
