Thousands of Chatham-Kent staff and students are headed back to the classroom this morning.
That means more traffic and buses are back on the roads. Drive safe. Sun, cloud and flurries today with an expected high of 1C.
Spring Break is March 16-20 and the last day of school is scheduled for June 25th.
Garbage and recycling collection will be on a normal schedule this week after the holidays.

This week Chatham-Kent residents can put their Christmas tree at the curb for pickup on their regular garbage and recycling day. The tree must be clear of any decorations.
You can also recycle your tree for free by dropping it off at the municipal leaf and yard depot, or at any of the transfer stations in Camden, Dover, Harwich, and Wallaceburg, and at the public works yards in Bothwell, Ridgetown, and Tilbury.


Canada will play for bronze at the World Junior Hockey Championship.
Czechia ended the gold-medal dream for a third straight year with a 6-4 victory in the semifinals on Sunday.
Czechia will play Sweden for gold on tonight and Canada faces Finland for bronze on TSN at 4:30 p.m.


The National Football League regular season is over.
The Detroit Lions won’t be playing in the postseason, they’ll finish 9-8 and last in the NFC North Division. They did beat the division leading Chicago Bears 19-16 to wrap up the season yesterday.
The NFL has announced the schedule for the opening round of the playoffs. It begins with the NFC’s fourth-seeded Carolina Panthers hosting the No. 5 Los Angeles Rams on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The six-game slate will carry on through Monday night, when the AFC’s No. 4 seeded Pittsburgh Steelers host the Houston Texans at 8 p.m.
The Super Bowl is in San Francisco on Sunday, February 8th.

It’s the first working Monday of 2026, and that means it’s “Divorce Day”: the day of the year you’re most likely to get dumped.
A study in 2020 found Google searches for things like “quickie divorce” more than double every January.
January probably does deserve the title of “Divorce month.” Experts think it’s because people tend to avoid breakups in November and December to just get through the holidays. Or sometimes, all the holiday stress can be the final straw.
The first working Monday gets the “Divorce Day” title because the added stress of getting back to work can push people over the edge.
For the sake of your relationship, it might be a good day to toss out a random compliment or do something nice for your partner. It could save your relationship, for now.
