 It’s opening night for Studio Black‘s A Christmas Carol:The Musical at the Chatham Capitol Theatre.

The curtain rises tonight at 8. Another show Friday night and two on Saturday.

Always celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November; it’s been a statutory holiday since 1879.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is still scheduled to take place today. Wind gusts are expected to reach 33/mph. Balloons are grounded when the gusts hit 34/mph.One of the best traditions of the U.S. Thanksgiving is the football games.

For anyone crossing the border to celebrate, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel will be open all day today and tomorrow. The tunnel is under renovation and has been closed most overnights.

Chatham’s Bridget Carleton and her Iowa State Cyclones beat Eastern Michigan 85-59 at the St. Clair College Healthplex.

Carleton, Iowa’s first Canadian recruit, led the Cyclones in scoring with 17 points, nine rebounds, four blocks and three assists.


Even though they have 2.2 million subscribers, after 80 years, Glamour magazine is ending their monthly print editions. They will focus on online content only.

Glamour said it will occasionally “celebrate big moments” with special-edition issues as opposed to a monthly print edition.

The last monthly print edition, the January 2019 issue, will hit newsstands next week.
