Over 300,000 people watched April welcome her new calf Saturday morning, it doesn’t compare to the 1.2 million viewers who watched the birth of son Tajiri two years ago.

The new baby, also a boy, is April’s fifth offspring. Park officials say the newborn giraffe was on its feet by 1:27 p.m., and nursing by 1:51 p.m.

This agreement means that the X Games would be held in Calgary for a minimum of three years. Tourism Calgary has attempted to secure these rights for about a decade. Tourism Calgary is estimating that $75 million in annual economic activity would be generated and an estimated 75,000 spectators.
