July is on track to become Earth’s hottest month on record.
Even with more than a week left until the end of the month, experts are already anticipating that the current record from July 2017 will fall. When the previous record was set, the average global temperatures were 2.16 degrees F higher than the average over the last century of July’s of 57.8F.
For many this is a worrisome climate record since last month was the hottest June on record.
The current warmest year on record was 2016, when El Niño contributed to the warmer-than-usual conditions.
