A wet spring in Las Vegas has spawned hordes of grasshoppers so large, they’re showing up on the weather radar.
The grasshoppers are spoiling vacations and frightening locals.
They’ve been drawn to the pyramid-shape of the Luxor Hotel and Casino, where every night they shine a Sky Beam into the sky. Some have compared the scene to the plague of locusts that descended on Egypt in the Book of Exodus.
Experts say Vegas is particularly attractive to the insects because they are attracted to ultra-violet light — and few cities light up like Sin City after dark.
?? Some of you have been asking about the widespread radar returns the past few nights in #Vegas. Radar analysis suggests most of these echoes are biological targets. This typically includes birds, bats, and bugs, and most likely in our case–> Grasshoppers. ?? #VegasWeather pic.twitter.com/reQX7hJR7Y

There’s an online petition right now to change the date of Halloween from October 31st to the last Saturday in October.
The thinking is that it’d be better for everyone if it were on a Saturday, from parents looking to take their kids trick-or-treating to people in their 20’s looking to dress and throw back some drinks.
So far, the petition on Change.org has around 110,000 signatures. When a petition crosses the 75,000 mark, it’s sent to the President.
For what it’s worth, this petition has been going since last year, but it’s finally getting more steam now.
Snickers is getting behind the movement. They say they’ll give out one million Snickers bars if it happens.
