August 9th is the 221st day of the year. There are 144 days remaining until the end of the year.

It’s Friday Night Movies In The Park!

Come by Wallaceburg Harbour Court Greenspace (Wallace St. between McNaughton Ave. & Murray St.) to see Incredibles 2 on the 20 foot inflatable screen.

Bring the family out for activities starting at 7, the movie begins at dusk. All free!

It’s WAMBO Weekend in Wallaceburg! Everything begins at 5 tonight with the opening ceremonies at Wallaceburg Civic Park. The Terry Glover Memorial Cruise begins at 7 from the Canadian Tire parking lot, it will then go down Murray Street to Duke Street (circle around Wallaceburg Retirement Residence), the parade will go back to Murray Street, over the bridge onto Wellington Street, then go to Dufferin Avenue to Fairfield Park, will go from Dufferin Avenue to James Street, then Margaret Avenue to Dresden.

Besides classic cars, WAMBO will also feature boats, motorcycles, fire trucks, vendors, and a cardboard boat race at 1 p.m. on Saturday, which will include Chatham-Kent’s mayor. See the full schedule of events here.

It’s also Bothwell Optifest Weekend! The gates at Victoria Park will open at 8am today and tomorrow with an automotive flea market and plenty of activities for the whole family.

A parade will begin at 7 tonight and the classic car show will follow that up on Saturday with registration taking place until noon. Vehicle registration costs $10 at the gate unless you are driving a 1969 or earlier pickup truck — that’s the featured vehicle for this year’s show.

One of the most popular attractions at the event every year is the Firemen’s 50-50 draw with last year’s jackpot winner taking home $42,219.

Admission tickets are $5 per adult each day and kids under 12 get in free with an adult. There’s more info here.

Cascades Casino in Chatham is celebrating it’s grand opening with events planned now through Tuesday. Today’s events include a meet and greet and signing event with TJ Brodie and Max Domi at Match restaurant from 4-6. There are plenty of events and prizes lined up all weekend. See more about the grand opening here.

There’s still lots of summer left, but if you just can’t wait until fall, Pumpkin Spiced Frosted Flakes have already started hitting store shelves at several Walmart locations in the USA. No word on if they are available in Canada at this point.
