Considered the most unlucky day on the calendar in Western society. In Italy, Friday the 17th is considered a day of bad luck.

Friday the 13th happens at least once every year but can’t occur any more than three times in the same year. A Friday the 13th occurs during any month that begins on a Sunday.

A full Harvest Moon is going to occur this weekend.

We in the Eastern Time Zone will see a Harvest Moon at 12:33am on Saturday the 14th. 

In the Pacific, Mountain and Central Time Zone their full Harvest Moon was be early this morning, Friday the 13th.

The last time North America had a full moon on Friday the 13th was October 13, 2000. A harvest moon is orange in colour.

 


Household Hazardous Waste Day is tomorrow. C-K residents can dispose of the materials at no charge from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at municipal public works garages in Chatham (25 Creek Rd.), Chatham Township (10137 Greenvalley Line) and Tilbury (4 Tower St.) to accept residential hazardous waste.

A flood watch has once again been for areas along the Lake Erie shoreline, Erie Shore Drive and Rose Beach Line.

Environment Canada is calling for strong wind gusts today.

Powerful waves are expected to hit the Lake Erie shoreline in both Chatham-Kent and Elgin County. High bluff areas on Rose Beach Line may also be exposed to waves.

However, conservation officials said if the wind changes to a more northeast direction today, the Rondeau Bay side of Erieau may also experience flooding.

Residents who live near the water are asked to be cautious around the shoreline.

The flood watch will remain in effect through tomorrow.
