October 7th is the 280th day of the year. There are 85 days remaining until the end of the year.


In case you missed it, all school are open today after Ontario reached a tentative deal with the union representing 55,000 school support staff.

The three-year deal still needs to be ratified by union members a vote should be held by the end of the month.


Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is tomorrow supporting the Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre.

Come out to St. Clair College Thames Campus on Tuesday for the annual march against violence against women.

Registration and shoe fitting begins at 11, opening ceremonies at noon, walk begins at 12:15. Free lunch at 1 and prizes and winners to follow.

Tonight’s Chatham-Kent Council Meeting is on the road.

Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting at Ryder Hall in Tilbury. It’ll be the first time a Chatham-Kent Council meeting has been held anywhere else but the Civic Centre’s Council Chambers.

Council begins at 6.


The Chatham-Kent Film Group‘s monthly movie screening will be Monday at Chatham Galaxy Cinemas. Two showings at 4 and 7.

The October movie is Woman at War.

Tickets are available for $10 prior to each screening. Screenings begin promptly at 4 & 7 – please arrive early.

Season pass holders must arrive at least 15 minutes early in order to claim their seat.


The whiskey brand Glenlivet just released a new product that’s, basically, alcoholic Tide Pods, they’re one-inch gel capsules that are filled with about half a shot’s worth of whiskey.

For now they’re only in the U.K., but Glenlivet strongly suggested they could work their way to North America soon.
