Today is Cyber Monday. The biggest online shopping day of the year.

Its creation was no accident. According to research and analysis, there were noticeable increases in online spending on the Monday after the U.S. Thanksgiving, on November 28, 2005, a press release said: “Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year.”

Sales have gone up every year since, hitting a new record of $7.9 billion in 2018. We have spent about $610 million on Cyber Monday in 2006.

Cyber Monday last year was Amazon’s single biggest shopping day ever. People bought more than 180 million items on Amazon between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday last year. And Cyber Monday broke their all-time single-day record.

A new breed of apples called Cosmic Crisp just went on sale after two decades of development.

They’re supposed to stay fresh for a year in your fridge.

The apple variety was developed by Washington State University, and Washington growers, who paid for the research, will have the exclusive right to sell it for the first 10 years. The apple is called Cosmic Crisp because of the bright yellowish dots on its skin, which look like distant stars. Cosmic Crisps are a cross between the disease-resistant Enterprise and the popular, crunchy Honeycrisp varieties.

Hasbro just released a new board game for the Christmas season; a longer version of Monopoly.

In this version, the board is bigger so there are two or three versions of every property. There’s only one die instead of two, so you move around slower.

And you can’t get out of this game by going bankrupt, it only ends when someone owns every single property in the game.

It costs $20 and it’s only available on Amazon, where they’ve already sold out of their first batch.

Hasbro also released a second version of Monopoly that’s the opposite. It’s called Monopoly Speed, and they promise it’ll take less than 10 minutes to finish.
