A new $5 bill is coming and the Bank of Canada is looking for some input.

The bank will be asking Canadians to nominate any historic Canadian they think may be worthy to be on the new bill. Nominations are not open yet, but will be coming soon.

These nominations will be similar to those that led to the choice of Viola Desmond for the $10 bill which began circulation in 2018.

Currently, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Canada’s first francophone prime minister who governed from 1896 to 1911, is featured on the $5 note.

According to the National UFO Reporting Center, there was a huge jump in UFO sightings last year.

There were 3,395 sightings in 2018 and 5,971 sightings last year; that’s a 76% jump.

It’s not clear why there was such a big jump, although there are a few “non alien” theories.

One is that Jupiter and Venus were more visible to Earth last year than usual, and they stand out in the sky. Another is that SpaceX launched 180 satellites last year, so people may’ve seen those.

California had the most sightings in 2019, with 485 total. Florida was second, and Washington was third.

One city set a new record for total losses in the Big Four sports leagues: The NFL, the NBA, the NHL, and Major League Baseball.

The city with the losing-est year is Detroit, which saw 226 losses in 2019.

The Lions, Pistons, Red Wings, and Tigers combined to go 114-226-1 in the calendar year. The previous record for most losses in one city was New York, which had 219 in 1962.

For the cities with two franchises in a sport, he only included one, but he cherry-picked the worst of them.

The complete breakdown: The Tigers lost 114 games, the Lions lost 12, and the Pistons and Red Wings combined to lose 100.

Carnival Cruise Lines has banned ‘offensive clothing’.

The website says guests should “ensure their clothing and accessories are respectful to fellow guests.” That means nothing worn during the cruise should “contain any message that may be considered offensive or contain nudity, profanity, sexual innuendo/suggestions. In addition, clothing/accessories should not promote negative ethnic or racial, commentary, or hatred or violence in any form.”

Staff will look out for guests wearing clothes with inappropriate images or language and ask them to change as needed.
