The 2020 Muncipal Budget has been approved.
Chatham-Kent Council has voted in favour of passing the budget with a tax increase of 2.97%, which is a decline from the 4.99% that was originally proposed.
The tax increase amounts to an additional $86 per year for a house assessed at $171,000. The increase is almost one percent higher than the 1.99 per cent increase that was approved in 2019.

Super Bowl LVI (54) goes on Sunday in Miami with the San Francisco 49ers taking on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Some notes for the big game:
- The Chiefs and the 49ers have never met in a Super Bowl.
- 120 footballs are typically used during the Super Bowl.
- This is the first time a Super Bowl will feature two teams with red as a primary uniform colour.
- Each of the players on the winning Super Bowl LIV team will receive $118,000. Members of the losing team receive about $59,000 each.
- NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said at a press conference Wednesday that Kobe Bryant will be honored as part of Sunday’s Super Bowl.
- How much are ads? $5.6 million for a 30-second spot. The money breaks down to $186,666.67 per second.
- The Super Bowl halftime show will be co-headlined by Shakira and Jennifer Lopez (Halftime performers are not paid)
- Demi Lovato will sing the National Anthem.
- Animal Planet will air Puppy Bowl XVI at 3pm.
- What’s on TV after the game? The coveted network spot goes to The Masked Singer.
- The NFL says that they’re going to print tweets on the confetti for the celebration after the game. It’s unclear why they’re doing this, but if you want your Tweet to possibly be included, you need to add the hashtag #NFLTwitter.
Kick off is at 6:30 on Fox, CTV in Canada. Halftime should be around 8.
General Motors just officially announced they’re bringing back the Hummer. But, it will be an all-electric “super truck.”
That means it’ll still have lots of horsepower and torque and it will go from zero to 60 in three seconds, but there’s no gas involved.
The Hummer will officially re-debut in a Super Bowl ad featuring LeBron James.
They’re going to go on sale in late 2021, and GM says they aren’t planning to make a gas version.
Popeyes just announced they’re selling their actual store uniforms as a, “fashion collection.”
They say they were inspired to sell them after Beyoncé’s Ivy Park collection with Adidas sold out and the clothes looked a lot like the maroon and orange Popeyes uniforms.
Popeyes says they’re, “Offering fashion seekers who missed the boat the first time a chance to score something nearly identical.”
