In case you missed it, all schools across Chatham-Kent are open today.

Property Taxes are due next Monday, March 2nd.

Canada Post has returned approximately 200 bills to the municipality as undeliverable. Anyone who hasn’t received a tax bill should contact the municipality at 519-360-1998.

Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt a property owner from the requirement from paying taxes.

The biggest story on the internet this weekend was the story of David Ayres.

After both goalies got hurt, the Carolina Hurricanes needed an emergency goalie on Saturday, so they brought in David Ayres and he helped them beat the Maple Leafs.

He became the first emergency goalie to get a win in modern NHL history. Ayres was paid $500 for his effort, and will get to keep his game jersey. But he won’t be a new member of the team. The Hurricanes made some moves to add two more goalies to their roster.

But the Hurricanes are calling Ayres an icon on social media, and the team is selling shirts with his name and #90. He will get royalties, and a portion of them will go to a kidney foundation in his honour. Ayres had a kidney transplant in 2004.

There’s a Picasso painting called Nature Morte that’s currently being raffled off for charity. It’s a still life that Picasso painted in 1921 of a newspaper and a glass.

It’s small, just 18 inches by nine inches, but it’s still the work of a master. The painting is valued at around $1.1 million.

And for $100 Euros, which is about $150 Canadian, you can be entered for a chance to win it.

All of the proceeds from the raffle are going to the CARE nonprofit, which will provide clean water for 200,000 people in Cameroon, Madagascar, and Morocco.

If you want to get in on this, the raffle is at the end of March. Here’s the link.

A company in Japan is taking preorders for mayo slices. You can buy a package of four slices of mayo that look just like slices of cheese, except it’s mayo.

For whatever reason, the company decided to flavour the mayo slices with different types of fish. There’s no word on whether they might make it to North America.
