Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Chatham-Kent, and most of the region.
Temperatures will hit 30 C today and Wednesday, with the humidity, it will feel more like the mid-to-upper 30s. The average daytime high for this time of year is 20.9 C.
Anyone spending time outdoors is advised to drink plenty of fluids and try to take frequent breaks in a cool place. People are also being reminded to never leave pets in a vehicle when the weather is this hot.
Temperatures will drop beginning on Thursday to more seasonable conditions.
It’s Paramedic Services Week and across Canada, paramedics are being recognized for the important role they’ve been playing on the front lines of the health care system during the COVID-19 pandemic, including right here in Chatham-Kent.

Bike sales are booming across the country in the midst of the pandemic.
People are finding ways to get out and stay active and thats driving sales. Some bike shop owners believe restrictions on how businesses can operate during the pandemic also plays into their favour. Customers come in knowing exactly what bike they want, making sales really quick and easy.
NASA is looking for volunteers for a ‘social isolation’ mission that simulates the psychological effects of confinement.
They’re looking for healthy participants to live together in isolation for eight months in Moscow, Russia. The experiment will help them learn more about ‘the physiological and psychological effects of isolation and confinement on humans’.
Those chosen must be US citizens, between the ages of 30 to 55 and ‘highly motivated’ They will experience environmental aspects similar to those astronauts will experience on future missions to the Moon and Mars. As well as being a healthy American, applicants will need to be proficient in both Russian and English languages and have a masters in science or a doctorate. Pay to be negotiated.

Nike and Ben & Jerry’s have teamed up to make a shoe.
The shoes basically look like a pint of Ben & Jerry’s on your feet. They have the bright blue, green, and yellow colours, plus the black and white cow print all over.
They go on sale online today but they’re expected to sell out immediately and some people who managed to grab a pair at a store for $100 are reselling them for more than $1,300. Check them out here.
