October 2nd is the 276th day of the year. There are 90 days remaining until the end of the year.

No positive cases of COVID-19 reported by the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit Thursday.

There are still 3 active cases and one is now in hospital care.

Ontario reported 538 cases across the province. 81% of the new positive cases are in Toronto, Ottawa, York and Peel.

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s COVID-19 assessment centre will relocate Monday to St. Clair College HealthPlex because of an increased demand for testing.

The new location will also provide more parking and comfort for patients.

A mobile clinic will be held Monday by the health alliance and Chatham-Kent EMS in the HealthPlex parking lot to accommodate booked appointments and walk-in testing while the centre is being moved.

People who require a test should still register online at www.assessmentbooking.ca.

Some changes have been made to COVID-19 screening protocols for schools and child care centres.

The screening tool now has two sets of questions about symptoms and what you should do if a child presents symptoms before school.

Beginning today, a child will only be told to stay home until they test negative for COVID-19 if they report one of the four most common symptoms of the virus: fever/chills, cough, shortness of breath, decrease or loss of smell or taste.

Runny nose, sore throat, headache, nausea, and fatigue have been moved to a lower tier of symptoms.

Students who report these less common symptoms of COVID-19 will only be required to stay home for 24-hours so long as their condition begins to improve. Abdominal pain and pink eye have been completely removed from the symptom list.

You can view the new check-in sheet from the province here.

President Trump and the First Lady have tested positive for COVID-19, and they’re currently quarantining at the White House.

Earlier in the day, Trump confirmed that his aide had contracted it.

And for some non-COVID news today: McDonald’s Spicy McNuggets are selling out!

Just weeks after debuting on McDonald’s menus, the chain’s new Spicy McNuggets are selling out across the country, and most locations will likely be sold out within days. Two other limited-time items that debuted alongside the McNuggets — the accompanying Mighty Hot Sauce and the Chips Ahoy! McFlurry — were also said to be in low supply.

McDonald’s originally debuted the spicy nuggets in mid-September. It’s the first time they have ever introduced a new flavour of the classic Chicken McNugget since they came to menus in 1983.

The McNuggets, Mighty Hot Sauce and McFlurry, however, were only ever advertised as limited-time offerings.
