Pfizer says its vaccine is over 90% effective at preventing people from getting the virus. Which is huge news, because it means the vaccines could really help us get things under control.

Officials like Dr. Fauci were worried they might only be 50 to 70% effective. And if only half of us were willing to get a vaccine, it might not do much. So over 90% is a really big deal. Just to compare, flu vaccines are only 40 to 60% effective most years.

If all goes well, Prime Minister Truedau says, the Pfizer vaccine should be available to Canadians sometime over the first three months of 2021.

The Bank of Canada is releasing a short list of eight Canadians who could be featured on the next $5-dollar bill.

Still in the running is Francis Pegahmagabow; a Canadian First Nations soldier, politician and activist. Pegahmagabow is the most highly decorated Indigenous soldier in the Canadian military.

Terry Fox, who’s Marathon of Hope in 1980 has raised millions for cancer research and Lotta Hitschmanova – a humanitarian, described as Canada’s mother Teresa.

This list was whittled down from 600 eligible nominees submitted by Canadians during a six-week public consultation.

See the full list of nominees here. The face on the next bill will be announced early next year.

IKEA stores in Canada are now offering meals for takeout.

In provinces where dining-in is allowed, you can still have your Swedish meatballs where you shop but in provinces and cities where in-store cafes have been closed amid the pandemic, there’s a to-go option. This service started yesterday.

The new takeout menu includes IKEA favourites like Swedish meatballs as well as kid’s and family meals, sides, beverages and dessert.
