A survey has been launched on the Chatham-Kent website where residents can have their say on municipal taxes.
Included in the survey are questions about the Tax System Modernization project that would consolidate the tax rates, creating efficiencies in the administration of property taxes.
The 13-question survey can be found by clicking here and is open until November 8th.
Today is the first Tuesday in November, Election Day. It’s the 59th U.S. Presidential Election.
The two major candidates are Republican incumbent President Donald Trump and Democratic former Vice President Joe Biden.
The winner of the 2020 presidential election will be inaugurated on January 20, 2021. If elected, Biden would become the oldest person to serve as president at 78 years old, and the first candidate to defeat an incumbent president in 28 years since Bill Clinton defeated George H. W. Bush in 1992; in addition, his running mate Harris would become the first woman to serve as vice-president. If reelected, Trump would be the oldest president to be inaugurated in U.S. history, as he would be 74 at the time of the 2021 inauguration. This is the first presidential election in which both the major candidates are over 70.
ABC and NBC start their coverage at 7:00 p.m. Fox and CBS start theirs at 8pm. Polls begin closing at 7pm.
People used to bake a specific type of cake on Election Day to get through the long nights of counting ballots. It’s kind of like a dense fruit cake. The recipe involves your standard cake ingredients like flour, butter, and eggs; plus things like brown sugar, buttermilk, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, raisins, and pecans.
Baby Shark is now the most-watched video in YouTube history with over 7 billion views.
The song, which was recorded by Korean-American singer Hope Segoine and produced by South Korean educational company Pinkfong, was originally uploaded to YouTube on June 17, 2016.
The song dethroned Despacito by Luis Fonsi. It’s still a close second, with more than 7.03 billion views.
It’s officially Movember.
Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide. The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, housed at Movember.com.
The goal of Movember is to “change the face of men’s health.”
By encouraging men (aka Mo Bros) to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths. Besides annual check-ups, the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of family history of cancer and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Since inception, the Movember Foundation has raised $837 million and funded over 1,200 projects in more than 20 countries.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men and the 3rd leading cause of cancer death among men. If you can’t grow a moustache in support, please consider donating here.
