The record for the most expensive trading card ever just got smashed.

A 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card sold for $5.2 million in November. The sale was made public Thursday.

The card is one of nine known in existence in its condition. It sold to Rob Gough, an entrepreneur and actor.

The card nearly doubled its value since it was previously sold in 2018 for $2.8 million. There’s been a trading card boom within the industry in recent years, with 2020 being a very strong year for sports cards.

This previous record set by a Mike Trout rookie card when it sold for $3.94 million in August.

The Consumer Electronics wrapped up yesterday in Las Vegas.

The gadget getting a lot of buzz this year is a machine called ColdSnap. It looks and functions like a Keurig but it’s for soft serve ice cream.

You’ll be able to buy recyclable ice cream pods of varying flavours and freezing them in about 90 seconds before dispensing it into a cup or cone. The company is also working on pods for smoothies, frozen coffees, protein shakes, non-dairy ice cream and frozen cocktails, such as mud slides and daiquiris. The machine reads a QR code on top of the pod’s label to find the specific freezing temperature for each product.

Coldsnap is supposed to be available later this year, but it carries a steep price tag, $1000!
