It’s budget season in Chatham-Kent.

The Municipal draft budget was presented last week with a proposed increase of 3.96% in taxes.

Now it’s your chance to weigh in. The budget process is being done completely virtually this year. Three community consultation meetings will be held on the Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s Facebook Live feed on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, January 19 from 12-1pm.
  • Wednesday, January 20 from 4-5pm.
  • Thursday, January 21 from 6-7pm.

One of these four teams will win the Super Bowl.

Next weekend, the Conference Champions ships will see the Green Bay Packers take on Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at 3, followed by the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs against the Buffalo Bills.

The Super Bowl is set for February 7th in Tampa.

Hard Rock Hotels announced plans for a new hotel at the site of the former Kellogg’s factory in London.

The hotel will feature 353 rooms and will be completed in two phases. The first phase is slated to open 163 rooms by late 2022 with the entire project completed in 2025.

It will feature the company’s unique brand of music and entertainment offerings.

The property will also be the future home of the London Children’s Museum, the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame, along with the already popular indoor park The Factory.

Today is Blue Monday which is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. A British psychologist came up with it in 2005.

It’s called Blue Monday because it’s the perfect mix of all of the factors that make us depressed: Bad weather, high debt from the holidays, the realization of just how far away next Christmas is and how far away we are from our next vacation, failing on our New Year’s resolutions and low motivation at work.

For what it’s worth, the guy who came up with Blue Monday says it was, “never [my] intention to make the day sound negative . . . [but] to inspire people to take action and make bold life decisions.”
