7 new COVID-19 cases reported Friday by Chatham-Kent Public Health.
There are 136 active cases. Chatham-Kent Public Health will be updating the COVID-19 numbers on their website later today.
The second batch of COVID-19 vaccines for Chatham-Kent arrived Friday. Vaccination teams were mobilized to complete the remaining first vaccinations for those residents in Long-Term Care Homes, high risk retirement homes, and Indigenous elder care home.
Ontario reported 1,489 new cases on Sunday. Toronto, York Region and Peel Region continue to be the provincial hotspots.
Staff and students return to in person classes today across most of the province. St. Clair Catholic District School Board and Lambton-Kent District School Board are included in that reopening.
- Some new school health and safety protocols include expanded mandatory mask wearing to grade 1-3 students.
- All Grades 1-12 students must also wear masks on buses and outdoors if a two metre distance can’t be maintained.

Tom Brady won Super Bowl MVP. Brady lifted the Lombardi Trophy for the seventh time and he won his fifth Super Bowl MVP. He said he’s not retiring.
The Weeknd played the Super Bowl halftime show, wearing a bedazzled red jacked and singing hits such as “Can’t Feel My Face,” “I Feel It Coming,” “Earned It” and “The Hills.” The performance started on a stage in the stands and ended with “Blinding Lights” on the field.
There’s a blood donor clinic at the Chatham-Kent YMCA on Tuesday 1-7.
