Efforts to vaccinate Chatham-Kent residents against COVID-19 appear to be continuing to pay off.
Local vaccine freezers emptied once again closing the clinic late Friday and is expected to open back up on Tuesday. Mobile outreach vaccination clinics are set to continue.
The health unit recently changed the time frame of when second doses of the vaccine can be administered, based on recommendations by upper levels of government. Vaccine doses can now wait 16 weeks between doses.
At that point, just over 12,500 residents had received a shot.
On Sunday, Premier Doug Ford announced a centralized online and telephone vaccination booking system for Ontario, however, health officials in Chatham-Kent will continue to use the municipality’s dedicated vaccination phone line for the time being.
Reminder that the C-K Vaccination clinic is now booking all health care workers and those born in 1946 or earlier.

Chicago kept its tradition of dyeing the river GREEN for St. Patrick’s Day. But to avoid having crowds gather to watch, they did it secretly on Saturday morning.
It’s surprisingly easy to dye the river . . . it only took about 20 minutes on Saturday morning for boats from the Chicago Plumber’s Union to get it done. There are 2 days until St Patrick’s Day.
