Fans of astronomy have something to look forward to over the next few weeks.
Early tomorrow morning (May 26) there will be a chance to catch a lunar eclipse when the full moon passes over the Earth’s shadow. The partial lunar eclipse will begin around 5:44am, when the moon is already below the horizon for most locations.
It will be best viewed in western Canada however, people in Southwestern Ontario might still get a chance to see it.
The lunar eclipse will coincide with the Full Flower Moon, which will appear to be the closest and brightest full moon of the year and one of 2021’s two supermoons. It’s called the “flower” moon because it’s when flowers blossom across North America.
Early on June 10th, there will be a partial solar eclipse at sunrise thanks to the alignment of the Earth, moon and sun and southwestern Ontario will have one of the best seats in the house. For this one, anyone attempting to look at the sun must take special precautions to avoid eye injury or blindness.
You’ll have to wake up early to catch this eclipse, the sun will rise at 5:35am and will reach its maximum extent at 5:40am before ending at 6:38am.
A rare 1933 Babe Ruth trading card could soon break the trading card’s record of $5.2 million.
Experts have referred to it as ‘the finest known of its kind’
The card is just one part of a collection valued at over $20 million previously owned by a Florida neurologist who recently passed away. Most of the items were kept at the doctor’s offices in Tampa. Many of the cards were unopened and still hermetically sealed inboxes. Wrap your mind around this. There was a medical office in Tampa housing tens of millions worth of rare baseball cards.
A game-worn Ruth jersey previously set the record for the most expensive piece of sports memorabilia ever sold at $5.64 million. But this card could smash every record.
The auction will begin in June and close on July 10th, info here.
