Splash pads in Chatham-Kent will open today, just in time for some hot temperatures this weekend.
There are a couple of exceptions; Kingston Park and Mitchell’s Bay splash pads may be delayed. Kingston Park is awaiting a water test and Mitchell’s Bay has a mechanical issue.
Washrooms will be open where they are available but change rooms will not.

Two new positive COVID-19 cases reported Thursday by Chatham-Kent Public Health.
There were no recoveries, the total active cases is up to 17 locally.
There were 870 positive cases across Ontario Thursday. The province has now had fewer than 1,000 new cases for the fourth consecutive day, but there is a slight uptick – Ontario’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams may be linked to the Victoria Day long weekend.
As of Wednesday night, 9.4-million vaccine doses had been administered across Ontario. More than 69% of the population over the age of 18 has had one. More than 834,900 Ontario residents are now fully vaccinated.
The OHL Priority Selection begins tonight and wraps up tomorrow.
Lighthouse Cove’s Declan Waddick is expected to be the first local player selected.
Parkhill’s (north of London) Taya Currie could make OHL history by being the first female selected ever. Currie has been playing with the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs AAA boys’ team since she was in minor-atom seven years ago. She’s a goaltender.
The Windsor Spitfires will pick 4th overall, Sarnia Sting at 13th and London Knights at 16.
The first three rounds will be tonight beginning at 7, Saturday begins at 9am. The draft will be streamed live on the OHL’s YouTube channel.
The Lotto Max jackpot tonight is up to $70 million.
Tonight’s draw will have a total prize pool of $99 million, including 29 Maxmillion prizes up for grabs worth $1 million a pop.
Winning numbers will be drawn at 9:15 tonight.
Airshow London announced Thursday that the famous Canadian Forces Snowbirds will be a part of this year’s airshow.
The show, known as SkyDrive 2021, will follow last year’s drive-in format.
The demonstration team is continuing their Operation Inspiration that began during the pandemic to lift the spirits of Canadians. Tragically Captain Jenn Casey lost her life last year in a crash during a practice run. Operation Inspiration is carrying on to highlight her legacy.
The show runs from August 27-29. Tickets can be purchased at airshowlondon.com.
The St. Thomas Air Fest has announced that the Air Fest’s Salute to All Essential Workers will take place on Saturday, June 12th.
The fly-by event will honour those working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was originally set for April but cancelled at the last minute when the Ontario government announced the province-wide stay-at-home order.
The salute takes off at 12:30pm, residents are asked to enjoy the salute from the comfort of their own homes, a local park or a public space. Organizers ask that no one shows up to the St. Thomas Airport, no planes will be landing there. The main air show has been postponed until June 2022.
