3 new positive COVID-19 case reported Wednesday by Chatham-Kent Public Health.

The total active case count locally is at 7.

There were 194 positive cases reported across Ontario on Wednesday. With 26,976 tests processed over the past 24 hours, officials are reporting a province wide positivity rate of 0.9 per cent


The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 in Game 5 to win their second consecutive Stanley Cup. It marks the third time in franchise history that the Lightning have won the Stanley Cup as they also won it all in 2004 and 2020.

 


Walk-in clinics will be held this week and next for young people in Chatham-Kent who want their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. No appointments will be necessary for 12- to 17-year-olds or those over 18 who have not yet received their first dose of a vaccine at the clinics at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham.

Those who need a second dose are asked to book an appointment at Getyourshotck.ca or call 519-351-1010 and leave a message.

Next week:

  • Wednesday, July 14, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.,

Long-term care residents in Ontario can now have outdoor visits with up to 10 people at a time.

The province says they can also meet indoors with up to two essential caregivers and two general visitors. Additionally, there’s no longer a limit on the number people who can be deemed “essential caregivers” by long-term care residents or their substitute decision-makers.

The new rules also allow personal care services to resume for long-term care residents.

Stage 3 of Ontario’s reopening plan, due to come into effect in two weeks, will see the resumption of off-site excursions and activities such as singing and dancing.


A lucky ticket holder in Ontario is $65 million richer, with one winning ticket sold in Tuesday’s Lotto Max jackpot. According to the OLG, the winning ticket was purchased somewhere in York Region.

Five of the 14 available Maxmillion prizes of $1 million were also claimed by three tickets sold in British Columbia, one in the Prairie provinces and one in Ontario.

The next Lotto Max draw will happen on Friday, with an estimated $21 million jackpot.
