One of Chatham’s busiest streets will be dealing with a closure the rest of the week.

Keil Dr. between Park Ave and Richmond closed today to Friday. Work is being done to repair the train tracks.

Starting at 7am, all lanes will be closed at the CN Railway Crossing, closest to Park Avenue West. Traffic will be permitted up to the work zone from Richmond Street only.

The roadway will reopen on Friday at 5pm.


Five new positive COVID-19 cases reported Tuesday by Chatham-Kent Public Health.

There were 7 recoveries, the total active case count locally is 7.

Ontario is changing the ways it reports daily cases.

Starting Tuesday the reports will focus on the key indicators that will be monitored heading into the Fall. They include the vaccination status of new cases, and patients in hospital and ICU due to COVID-19.

There were 321 new cases reported Tuesday. 267 cases are in unvaccinated individuals. It is the fifth straight day with over 300 daily cases.


The Chatham Concert Band hosts another Concert in the Park in Tecumseh Park tonight.

Concerts are free, bring your lawn chair and enjoy.

The Chatham Concert Band was formed in 1927 and has been playing consecutively for over 90 seasons.

The Perseid meteor shower will peak tonight with up to 60 shooting stars per hour.

The shower is a result of the Earth-orbiting through a debris field from the Swift-Tuttle Comet, a 26-kilometre wide mass made up of ice and rock.

Astronomers call it “One of the best meteor showers of the year.”

The Perseid meteor shower has been underway since last month but it hits its peak tonight.

Just a heads up, according to a TikTok user, aliens will land on earth today during the Perseid meteor shower in the first stages of an intergalactic war. He says that he time travelled from the year 2714.


Competitive eater Eric Booker has set a Guinness World Record for chugging two liters of soda.

He did it in 18.45 seconds, which topped the previous record of 30 seconds. And of course he ends it with a hearty, and well-earned belch.

He actually made the attempt back in May, but Guinness has just confirmed the record.
