John McGregor Secondary School will welcome their Grade 9 students on today for Grade 9 orientation.

Students are asked to arrive at JMSS at 9am and finish at 11am. Students will receive their timetables, tour the building, and meet students in their homeroom class. COVID protocols are in-place and include completing the school screener, wearing a mask and social distancing.

Ontario reported another 694 cases of COVID-19 on Monday, 527 of which are in individuals who have not been fully vaccinated or whose vaccination status is unclear.

Chatham-Kent Public Health reported 23 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. 16 cases have been resolved.Eight people are hospitalized. Of these cases, seven are unvaccinated and one is partially vaccinated. There are 52 active cases locally.


There is a pop-up clinic today at the Downtown Chatham Centre from 10-4.

They are giving first and second doses of Pfizer-BioNTech.

Today is Overdose Awareness Day around the world to remember those who have lost their lives to overdose.

Chatham-Kent Drug Awareness Council (CKDAC) will be holding a number of events across the community for Overdose Awareness Day.

There will be a Facebook Live memorial and they will have memorials sites throughout the community that the public can visit.

The memorial sites include the CMHA office in Chatham at 240 Grand Ave W. Ashley’s Place in Tilbury at 75 Queen St W. the Westover Treatment Centre in Thamesville, the CIBC Bandshell in Dresden, Blenheim Baptist Church at 24 Talbot St, and the Wallaceburg at CMHA/CHC on 808 Dufferin St.
