The Ontario government has announced it will begin allowing large-scale organized events outdoors immediately, meaning full capacity for Remembrance Day ceremonies and Santa Claus parades in the coming weeks.

The amendments effectively lift the capacity limits for all organized public events held outdoors so long as attendees wear masks when a physical distance of two metres cannot be kept.

Proof-of-vaccination will continue to be required in outdoor settings where the capacity is 20,000 or more. Outdoor social gatherings will also continue to be capped at 100 people for the time being.


There were 8 new positive COVID-19 cases reported Thursday by Chatham-Kent Public Health.

There were 15 resolved cases, the total active case count locally is at 58.

There are 409 new cases in the province.


Facebook has changed the name of its parent company to Meta.

Facebook itself will still be called Facebook, but it’ll just be one of the technologies under what Mark Zuckerberg is calling the “metaverse”.

Zuckerberg said he envisions this new “metaverse” as an online realm featuring virtual and augmented reality technologies.


PETA is asking Major League Baseball to stop using the term “bullpen” for the place where relief pitchers warm up during a game.

PETA says, “Words matter, and baseball ‘bullpens’ devalue talented players and mock the misery of sensitive animals.

“Strike out the word ‘bullpen,’ which references the holding area where terrified bulls are kept before slaughter, in favor of a more modern, animal-friendly term.”

They’ve suggested an alternate term for the area where pitchers warm up: The arm barn.
