Ontario has put back restrictions in long-term care and retirement settings to protect residents and staff from the Omicron variant.
Effective immediately, all visitors to long-term care homes in the province will have to be fully vaccinated. Other measures for long-term care homes will take effect on Friday.
- Regardless of vaccination status all staff and caregivers will be tested at least twice a week and prior to entry.
- All visitors or support workers entering homes must have a negative test the day of entry, or day prior to entry.
These measures take effect Friday at 12:01am.
Eighteen new COVID-19 cases reported Tuesday by Chatham-Kent Public Health.
There were 26 resolved cases, the number of active cases locally is 151.
Ontario reported 1,429 new cases – the seventh straight day the province has reported more than 1,000 daily infections.
