As of 12:01am this morning, Ontario is now on the first step of its three-step reopening plan, meaning that a number of restrictions imposed earlier this month will lift.
- Social gathering limits will increase to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors.
- Indoor dining, gyms, retailers, shopping malls, and cinemas can reopen at 50 per cent capacity. Museums, galleries, aquariums, zoos, casinos, bingo halls and other gaming establishments can also reopen.
- The government will also allow spectators at sporting events, concert venues and theatres at 50%.
- Indoor religious services, rites, or ceremonies can take place at 50% capacity.
Restrictions were originally put in place January 5th.
After reopening Thursday, Municipal Service Centres in Ridgetown, Tilbury and Dresden are closing once again due to high levels of staff under COVID-19 protocol.
The three centres will not open today and remain closed for a minimum period of two weeks.

On Sunday Ontario reported 3,019 people are now in hospital due to COVID-19.
There were 58 new COVID-19 deaths across the province. The death toll for January is over 1,200.
The last update from Chatham-Kent Public Health had 12 COVID patients in hospital. A weekend update will come between 10-11 this morning.
The two teams playing in Super Bowl 56 has been decided.
The Cincinnati Bengals, trailing 21-3 in the second quarter, rallied to beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 in overtime. The Bengals are two-time losers in the Super Bowl, losing both in 1981 and 1988.
They’ll take on the Los Angeles Rams. LA beat San Francisco in a game that came down to the last minute. The Rams will host the Super Bowl in 2 weeks. Last year, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers became the only team to win a Super Bowl at home.
The Super Bowl will be Sunday, February 13th in Los Angeles.
Canada beat the the U.S. 2-0 in World Cup qualifying play Sunday.
Canada is undefeated through ten games and sit on top of the table. The top three teams automatically qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, while the fourth-place team must compete in an inter-continental playoff.
Canada is ranked 40th and has qualified for the FIFA World Cup only once, back in 1986.
The 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be held November 21 – December 18.
