Short track speed skater Charles Hamelin and the captain of the women’s hockey team, Marie-Philip Poulin, will be Canada’s flag bearers at the Opening Ceremonies at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
They have held onto the secret for more than a week, since hearing of the honour during a video conference. This will be Hamelin’s 5th games, Poulin’s fourth.
Beijing is 13 hours ahead of us here in the Eastern Time Zone. This is the same time difference as there was for the Games last Summer, meaning the Beijing Games will feature a similar schedule : Events taking place in the evening in China will air live in the early mornings in Canada.
You can watch the opening ceremony tomorrow morning beginning at 6:30am on CBC TV and CBC.ca.
