Sources say Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott will announce this morning that the province plans to expand access to free rapid antigen COVID-19 tests.
The free tests will be distributed through pharmacies and grocery stores, starting later this week. The free tests will be limited to one box per household with each box containing five tests.
The federal government committed to provide 54.3 million rapid tests to Ontario last month, 36.4 million have so far been delivered.
Minister Elliott is scheduled to speak later this morning.
Chatham-Kent Public Health is taking the vaccination clinic on the road to Blenheim this afternoon.
The clinic is open from 3-7:30 at Blenheim District Secondary School for anyone 5+ looking for 1st, 2nd or booster shots.

Meryeta O’Dine has won bronze in women’s snowboard cross for her first career Olympic medal.
Canada has 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 5 Bronze – good for 12th overall.
The Detroit Tigers finally have a date to celebrate the career of second baseman Lou Whitaker and retire his number 1 jersey.
The Tigers will honour Lou before the game against the Tampa Bay Rays on August 6th.
The original plan was to retire the jersey in 2020. But the pandemic wiped out most of the season and no replacement date was placed on the 2021 calendar due to uncertainty about attendance limits and health protocols.
The Tigers have retired the numbers of eight other players.

Gas prices are expected to drop across the province today.
Most of the province’s major cities will experience a drop of 1-2 cents per litre. Most Ontario motorists will pay between 157.9 and 158.9 cents per litre while filling up.
In Chatham-Kent, the average was about 152.9 cents per litre. The city of Cornwall will be the cheapest at 149.6 cents per litre.
It’s possible gas could drop further tomorrow.
