The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is hosting three public information sessions for special event organizers to get details on how to apply for a permit.

The public information meetings begin tonight:

  • March 29 from 7-9 p.m. at the Thames Campus Arena in the Red Line Room
  • March 30 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Blenheim Arena in the Blue Line Room
  • March 31 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Wallaceburg Memorial Arena in the Jack Backus Mezzanine Room

At the public information meetings, officials said event organizers will be able to meet with staff, get paper copies of the special event application, and learn where they can find electronic versions for download and printing purposes. A presentation on the application process will also be given and a question and answer session will be held.


The first public information session to discuss the emergency homeless shelter hosted by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent will be tonight from 6-7:30pm in Studio One at the Chatham Cultural Centre.

There is a second other information session that will be held on April 6th at the same time and location.

The discussion sessions will be moderated and feature a number of municipal panelists.


It’s official: The Ontario government has signed a child-care deal with the federal government.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Doug Ford made the announcement Monday morning.

Childcare in the province will drop to an average of $10 a day September 2025. Ontario is the last province to to sign the federal governments $30 billion national child-care program deal.

To get to $10 a day childcare, the program will be phased in:

  • Fees reduced up to 25% this April
  • Fees down on average 50% this December
  • Final reduction to an average of $10-a-day in September 2025

It may be the off season, but yesterday was a big day for the Detroit Lions.

Detroit has been awarded hosting rights for the 2024 NFL Draft. The draft is held during one of the final two weeks in April. Organizers plan to use venues throughout the downtown core to host events.

HBO announced Monday it will be featuring the Lions on the training camp documentary series Hard Knocks.

A 30-person NFL Films crew will be at Lions’ training camp in Allen Park, shooting more than 1,750 hours of footage over the course of the series. Camera and sound crews will have full access to players’ and coaches’ meeting rooms, training rooms, living quarters and practice fields.

The five-episode season debuts Tuesday, August 9th.


Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin will send another rocket to the edge of space this week.

The launch was originally set for March 23rd, but was pushed back for additional tests to today, but with high winds expected it is now pushed back to Thursday.

Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson, who had been scheduled to make the trip, said he was no longer able to go after the launch date was moved. Blue Origin later announced it would replace Davidson with the chief architect of its suborbital rocket, Gary Lai.

Five other paying customers are set to go on the flight.

The launch is scheduled for 9:30am Thursday from West Texas.
